Tool Tip: Padlet for Reading Groups
A User-Friendly, Asynchronous Option
Padlet offers a free tier that is a great option for reading groups with members who want to participate but cannot meet live, or simply for starting an asynchronous reading group.
As of June 2026, Padlet’s free tier allows the creation of three “boards.” The creator can set access to only those with the direct link, and allow or restrict their privileges to the desired level (e.g., so invited users can’t edit or delete others’ posts). The beauty of the link system is that others don’t have to set up an account. They just choose a type of post (including audio, video, screen recording options suitable for reading groups) through their device’s web browser and share. Recordings are limited to two minutes, but users with the link can post multiple recordings.
If you would like to try out Padlet, you can check it out at padlet.com.
